UNFPA Promotes Pessimism Among Youth on Family Formation?

Aug 28, 2025

đź—ž “We hit the streets of #NewYork to ask young people a simple question: Do you want to have kids? On #YouthDay, hear what they have to say and join @UNFPA—the @UN sexual and reproductive health agency—to support their freedom to choose their own lives,” wrote UNFPA on X.

Shot in Washington Square Park, New York, the UNFPA video featured seven young people, five of whom shared pessimistic views about family formation. The reasons they gave ranged from disliking kids to wanting more money for themselves, fear of bringing children into an unstable world, and the prohibitively high costs of raising a family. The overall pessimistic tone seems out of sync with how the average young person feels about having children. For UNFPA to capture a broader range of opinions, it would likely need to expand its sampling beyond the most progressive area in New York City. Such bias is common for UNFPA, which often portrays “youth” as a monolithic group.

Below are some excerpts from the video:

â€śI don’t get with em’ [kids] and I don’t have the patience for it. I’d rather spend my money on myself and my friends and my family.”

“Bringing kids into the world in this day and age is not necessarily the best thing to be doing all the climate change that’s been going on and just like the instability of the world is something that makes me feel a bit nervous.”

“Working a full time job it would be so difficult to like fully be there for your kids and I wouldn’t wanna have kids if I couldn’t like totally have a relationship with them.”

“Having an entire person that depends on you for their livelihood…How will I afford that if I'm barely making ends meet myself? I’m having iced soup for breakfast but I cannot do that if I have a kid.”

“I want to raise my kids in a house or in an apartment that I own. To be employed long enough, at a high enough position where I can support that kind of lifestyle”

đź—ž UN agenices are finalizing their strategic plans for the next three years ; UNFPA and UNICEF are in the process of finalizing and presenting their new strategic plans to member states. Regrettably, the two agencies have strayed away from their original mandates and are routinely promoting controversial ideas that have not been approved by member states. This document shows just how controversial UNICEF has become in the past years. Below you can find their strategic plans:

🗞 Abortion Pills are Completely Renamed, Completely Reframed “I went on the 'Period Pills' website, and what I found is seriously concerning. They market these pills as a simple way to 'bring on your period when it's late,' even telling women they don't need to take a pregnancy test first. This is incredibly deceptive marketing, and it intentionally skips crucial safety steps that protect women's health. Let's get into it.” Watch Emily Berning’s video HERE
