UN’s Financial Distress, STI Forum & Other Stories

UN Could Run Out Of Cash Within Months ”The United Nations could become unable to pay its staff and suppliers by September and its peacekeepers by mid-2025, following an outsized projected deficit and a leaked White House proposal to end funding for the intergovernmental body, according to reports,” the Daily Caller reports. The U.S. has been the largest contributor to the UN since its founding in 1945. Its assessment for 2024 is 22% of the regular budget and 27% to peacekeeping efforts. The Trump administration is currently reviewing all multilateral funding.
Mattea Merta, a pro-family advocate at the UN, wrote on X that she was at the UN recently and noticed that “they've shut down certain entry points into UN HQ because they're tight on funds and can't pay guards to operate them. Diplomats were turned away and told to go use a different entrance. The UN is truly hurting financially.”
The UN Science, Technology and Innovation Forum is taking place this week at the UN Headquarters in New York. The Forum is convened by ECOSOC and brings together stakeholders to ”discuss science, technology and innovation cooperation around thematic areas for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.” A key concern for social conservative groups is that the UN and its preferred tech partners and advisers are working to advance a vision of AI that is skewed towards the progressive worldview. Initiatives to embed progressive ethics into AI design and deployment, coupled with using AI to combat “misinformation” and “disinformation,” could open the door to mass censorship. UN Women and UNFPA are leveraging AI to shape the views of young people in developing countries, especially around controversial issues like abortion and human sexuality.
The WHO Pandemic Treaty will be voted on this month in Geneva. The treaty negotiations took place behind closed doors and spanned more than three years as countries could not reach an agreement on significant provisions of the draft text. “From the outset, the pandemic treaty was intended as a way to channel money for global health infrastructure and establish technology transfer mechanisms for poor countries. While developing countries were interested in the pandemic treaty and the money attached, rich Western countries were always more interested in bulking up the power of the World Health Organization (WHO) through changes to the already existing agreement called the International Health Regulations,” Stefano Gennarini wrote in May of last year. On January 20, the Trump administration withdrew from the WHO and has not engaged in the final negotiations of the treaty. Here is a C-Fam factsheet detailing how this treaty could jeopardize national sovereignty and social conservative values.
Men Not Welcome as Next UN Secretary General “The race to select the next UN Secretary-General of the United Nations is well underway. All the frontrunners are women, and they are well-known abortion advocates”, Stefano Gennarini reports.

New Study Shows Massive Harms from Abortion Pills “New data reveals that women suffer serious adverse effects following chemical abortions, at least 22 times more frequently than what is claimed on the label for the abortion drug mifepristone,” Rebecca Oas reports.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Releases Comprehensive Review of Medical Interventions for Children and Adolescents with Gender Dysphoria. The study challenges the effectiveness of gender-affirming medical interventions such as puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and surgical procedures and criticizes some of the prevailing health guidelines for ideological bias. The Wisdom of Youth? “If older adults keep chasing validation from the young instead of reclaiming authority in their role as elders, they’ll keep getting mocked—and deservedly so. Wisdom isn’t about being stuck in the past; it’s about offering something steady and timeless in a world that feels increasingly unmoored.” Rob Henderson calls into question the recent trend that elevates youth voices as beacons of wisdom and inspiration and encourages them to exercise moral authority over older people. You can read Henderson’s article for CityJournal here. The UN has been at the forefront of advocacy efforts establishing youth as agents of change and trusted decision-makers, as exemplified by the 2025 UN Youth Forum, where young voices were elevated to promote some of the most controversial UN policies and programs.
FIGO’s Dark Agenda: Global Advocacy for Abortion Without Limits “The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) presents itself as a scientific institution dedicated to maternal health. However, a closer look reveals that its true goal is the global promotion of abortion, cloaked in the appearance of medical neutrality.” IYc blogger María Corzo exposes FIGO's problematic focus on abortion throughout its programming, including its advocacy campaigns.
