The WHO Exodus and Rise of Sovereign Alliances in Global Health

May 28

Countries are frustrated with an increasingly inefficient UN that is unfit for purpose. Argentina and the US left the WHO and announced the launch of a parallel international health system based on science and disease prevention…

The WHO: A Thing of the Past?

Argentina and the United States are joining forces to establish a parallel system for global health. Both countries cited the mismanagement of the COVID pandemic as evidence of a highly inefficient, overly politicized, and ideological WHO bureaucracy. They are reaching out and inviting like-minded countries to join the new alliance.

Secretary of Health, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, on X:

“I had a wonderful meeting with Argentine President @JMilei about our nations’ mutual withdrawal from the WHO and the creation of an alternative international health system based on gold-standard science and free from totalitarian impulses, corruption, and political control.”

In its criticism of the WHO, RFK said that the organization has routinely allowed “political agendas like pushing harmful gender ideology to hijack its core mission.”

A Look into the UPR System: Pressure on Gender Ideology & Abortion

🔍 After years of monitoring the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) system, Rebecca Oas, Research Director at the Center for Family and Human Rights, observed a concerning trend—Western governments frequently use this mechanism to pressure conservative countries regarding gender ideology and abortion.

Below are Rebecca’s highlights from the most recent UPR session (the 47th) 👇

“The countries being reviewed received pressure on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues 101 times and on abortion 30 times. Albania received the most SOGI pressure (14 recommendations) and Costa Rica received the most abortion pressure (9 times).” Iceland stands out for having submitted the most recommendations on SOGI and abortion.

Curious to learn more about the UPR system? C-Fam has a paper on it, and you can find a brief excerpt right below 👇

“The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a relatively new UN human rights mechanism. In its ten-year tenure it has provided a forum for nations to review each other’s human rights records, with input from civil society.  It differs from other committees in the UN human rights system. Rather than relying on outside experts to critique government’s performance, the UPR brings to bear a sort of peer pressure on governments.”

The Future of UN Women

UN Women is an agency that promotes third-wave feminism around the world. It embraces controversial ideas such as gender and sexual fluidity, abortion rights, and identity politics, among others. UN Women often fails to recognize that these values do not enjoy consensus, yet continues to include them in its programming and shame those who oppose them. Below are some excerpts from the UN Women draft Strategic Plan for 2026-2029.

🗣️UN Women Rhetoric:

"Some Member States and civil society actors are challenging core principles of non-discrimination, undermining consensus on women’s rights.”

🧠 Reality:

“Core principles of non-discrimination" = abortion rights, gender ideology

“Undermining consensus on women’s rights” = affirming that abortion is not an international human right

🗣️UN Women Rhetoric:

“In multilateral spaces, stalling or blocking normative advances on gender equality has become all too common"

🧠 Reality:

“Normative advances on gender equality” = a decades-long manufactured illusion of an international 'right to abortion'—not through law, but through constant repetition by UN agencies and progressive member states. No UN treaty or binding international agreement recognizes such a right.

“Stalling or blocking” = Traditional countries standing up for their national sovereignty, resisting pressure from the most influential UN agencies and governments to compromise their values & culture in favor of social progressivism
